1968 Gibson ES-345 Sparkling Burgundy Metallic "Special"

$17,995.00

This near mint with tags 1968 Gibson ES-345 TDC Special in original Sparkling Burgundy Metallic finish has just come in from its original owner! Pat's parents bought him this guitar from Sam Ash in NYC. He played it a little while learning as a teenager, but the Gibson has mostly sat in its case unplayed for the last 5 decades.

We were very surprised to find that the "Special" marked on the tag may be in reference to the factory in-phase pickups! That's a feature that I've never seen on a vintage Gibson stereo guitar out of the 15 other examples I've owned over the past 14 years. With the included ES-Box, a player can go straight into a mono pedal board with no signal loss, in phase middle position, and independent volume and tone controls exactly like an ES-335.

Measurements: 9.5 lbs / 4.2 kg total weight. The neck measures 1.57" / 39.87 mm wide at the nut, 0.82" deep at the first fret, and 1.01" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup measures 7.35k ohms and the bridge pickup measures 7.5k ohms.

Originality: All parts, finish, and solder is original to this guitar.

Playability: Excellent. The neck is dead straight, truss rod functions as intended, frets have very little wear, and the electronics are clean and operate as intended.

Condition: Incredible! It's near mint with no finish deterioration anyway. The gold parts have minimal oxidation.

Included: The ES Box pedal, a TRS to TRS stereo cable (for running mono into a pedal board), the original stereo cable, original hard shell case, and all the tags and case key in the pictures are included with the sale.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
