1966 Fender Jazz Bass Lake Placid Blue Metallic
Couldn't load pickup availability
This super clean 1966 Fender Jazz Bass in original custom color Lake Placid Blue Metallic finish has just arrived from its original owner along with the matching 1965 Fender Jaguar Lake Placid Blue!. Both guitars has languished unplayed since the 1970s, but both were all original and in amazing condition under 5 decades of dust. Both guitars had Parker body guards on them, so I removed them and cleaned the residue that's left from the foam on the edge of the body. I replaced the foam under the pickups, cleaned the electrical connections, lubricated the truss rod nut, and set it up with the original strings that came on it. It's a spectacular playing example that looks like a million bucks too.
Measurements: 9.3lbs (4.20 kg) total weight. The neck measures 1.5" wide at the nut, 0.83" deep at the first fret, and 1.00" deep at the 12th fret (medium taper profile). The front pickup measures 6.2k ohms and the back pickup measures 6.5k ohms.
Dates: The neck heel stamp reads "7JAN66A" where 7 = Jazz Bass model, JAN = January, 66 = 1966, and A = standard neck width 1 1/2". The potentiometer codes read "137 6611" where 137 = CTS (manufacturer code), 66 = 1966, and 11 = 11th week.
Originality: All parts, finish, and solder are original to this guitar except the foam and neck shim. The original foam and shims will go with the guitar.
Playability: Excellent. The neck is straight, frets have no wear, and the electronics operate as intended.
Condition: Very Good! The edge of the body has foam residue from a Parker Body Guard.
Included: The original hang tag, two case keys, leather strap, and hardshell case are included with the guitar.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
