1960 Gibson SG TV
Many may recognize this as a TV Junior, or a Les Paul DC, but Gibson's catalog and price list both describe this as an "SG TV" since the TV Model and the Special both dropped the Les Paul signature in late 1959. Both models were now devoid of the signature on the headstock and were the first to be named "SG" anything.
This 1960 Gibson SG TV has just come from its second owner who purchased it in the 1970s but passed away recently. It's in spectacular all original condition, plays like a dream, and has never even had a truss rod adjustment.
Make and Model: Gibson SG TV (see 1960 Gibson catalog and price list)
Year: 1960. Serial "0_15xx" ink stamped on the back of the headstock. Check out How to date a Gibson Les Paul.
Measurements: Wide nut (1 11/16"), slim neck profile (.80" depth at the first fret and .90" at the 12th fret). Low action = 5/64" bass side and 4/64" treble side measured at the 12th fret. Neck relief = .006 (never had its truss rod adjusted and doesn't need it!)
Originality: Everything is original on the guitar except for the strings.
Playability: Excellent. The neck is straight, frets have no wear, and the electronics work like new.
Mods or Repairs: None.
Notes: This 1960 Gibson SG TV has been very well preserved and plays like a dream. The Gibson Shipment Totals book by Larry Meiners lists 419 TVs shipped in 1960 compared to 2,513 Juniors, so I'm thrilled to have found this one. I'm confident you'll love it as much as I do.
