1939 Gibson J-35 Sunburst
Couldn't load pickup availability
We're honored to showcase this exceptional 1939 Gibson J-35. The original sunburst finish has remained clean despite being 85 years old, and the checking on the top and back is pleasing to the eye. The luthier we've worked with for over a decade (Jason Burns) expertly reset the neck for perfect action with the original saddle height. This well preserved J-35 did not require a bridge reglue, braces reglued, or bridge plate repair.
Measurements: 4.1 lbs / 1.85 kg total weight. The neck measures 1.79" wide at the nut and 1.00" deep at the 1st fret. The action measures 4/64" on the treble side and 6/64" on the treble side with the original saddle height.
Originality: All parts and finish are original to this guitar except for two bridge pins. We performed a neck reset and setup, re-glued a section of the pickguard, and glued 1 tight top crack and 2 tight back cracks. The low and high E bridge pins were replaced and painted to match the other 4 original pins. We were happy to retain the original saddle installed by Gibson in 1939.
Playability: Excellent! The action is a perfect and the neck relief is adjusted perfectly. the truss rod works as intended and the frets have very little wear. The neck profile is fat with a pronounced V shape.
Condition: Excellent! It's very clean with typical nicks, scratches, and checking.
Included: We will include a non-original hardshell case for shipping.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
