Vintage 1969 Fender Vibro Champ guitar amplifier
Fender's Vibro Champ-Amp was introduced in 1964 as a part of the redesigned black face era amplifiers. It utilized a class A amplifier with 12ax7 preamp tube and 6v6 power tube making about 6 watts with a tube driven (12ax7) tremolo circuit. The cabinets were solid finger jointed Pine with an 8" (usually Oxford) speaker. In 1968, Fender updated the cosmetic to what is now called the drip edge/black line and currently reissued as the "68 Custom" line. Drip edge/black line refers to the Aluminum trim around the grill cloth and the vertical black lines on the front of the face plate. The amplifier section was unchanged in the Vibro Champ model until the mid 1970s.
This clean Vibro Champ-Amp is in unbelievably good condition with oft missing paperwork including the Tolex tag, original schematic and Fender manual. All parts are original to the amp except for one replaced Mallory capacitor in the tremolo section. The capacitor had drifted too far out of spec rendering the tremolo too weak to use. All other parts are original including transformers, speaker, and RCA/Telefunken tubes.
