Gibson Les Paul goldtop 1956
This Gibson Les Paul Model 1956 goldtop has just come in from the family of its original owner from Tulare, California! It's a very light example in great playing condition with original finish and parts.
International shipping is available. High resolution pictures are also available by request.
Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Model
Year: 1956. Serial number 6_7xxx.
Measurements: 8 lbs 1 oz total weight (super light!), neck profile = 0.90" at the first fret and 1.00" at the 12th fret.
Originality: All parts and finish are original to the guitar except a repro catalin switch tip, period correct jack plate (original part, not reproduction), one screw on the pickguard bracket mount, and 4 jack plate screws. The ground wire from the stop tail to the potentiometers was resoldered by the previous owner because of a perceived grounding problem. 4 holes from a previous jack plate were plugged.
Playability: Very good! The neck is straight, truss rod functions properly, and the bridge is not collapsed. The frets have wear in the first through fifth frets but not so much that I would refret. Studio players will likely prefer a refret.
Notes: After looking for the right Tune-O-Matic Goldtop Les Paul for a long time, I was thrilled to find this one still in its original family. Neither the brother nor the sister played guitar, but they held onto it for over a decade after their father passed. I could tell as soon as I picked it up that it was the lightest Maple top Les Paul I've played. I was also blown away at how loud it was unplugged. I'm confident you'll love it as much as I do.
