Gibson Firebird V 1964
I am always looking to buy 1960s Gibson Firebird guitars. You can contact me here to sell a Gibson Firebird.
This 1964 Gibson Firebird V has just come in from the son of its long time owner since 1972! It's a fantastic example of Gibson's short lived Reverse body style Firebird V. The original frets are in nice condition, the tremolo is smooth but has rock solid tuning stability, and the pickups sound divine with a gentle turn of each tone knob.
Make and Model: Gibson Firebird V
Year: 1964. Serial number "240xxx", Reverse body style, and potentiometer codes indicating they were made during the 17th week of 1964 (137 6417). Check out Les Paul serial number lookup.
Measurements: 9 lbs / 4.08 kg total weight. The neck profile measures 0.83" depth at the first fret and 1.00" at the 12th with the standard 1 11/16" nut width (wide nut).
Originality: All parts and finish are original to the guitar except the truss rod cover and case. Both appear to be from 1972 from the medallion Firebird era. There is a wire splice on the lead going to the output jack.
Playability: Excellent! This is a spectacular playing example with excellent intonation, excellent tuning stability, straight neck, and great frets. There is some fret wear in the first few frets but not close to affecting playability.

Fender Stratocasters: Better with a Hardtail?
There is something different about a Fender Stratocaster that's been lovingly played and cherished for half a century. My favorite Stratocaster we've been fortunate enough to have in the shop this year, and frankly one of my favorite guitars of all time was a 1960 Fender Stratocaster in sunburst. Sounds boring right? Well, this Strat has a trick up its sleeve. It left the factory with a "Hardtail" configuration.
