1965 Gibson ES-355 Mono

$1.00

This vintage 1965 Gibson ES-355 in rare monaural configuration has survived in amazing original condition! It features the desirable 1 21/32" nut width (just a hair under 1 11/16"). The original frets show very little wear and it's in spectacular playing condition.

Make and Model: Gibson ES-355 TDC (mono)

Year: early 1965. Serial number "346xxx", wide or transitional nut.

Measurements: Nut width = exactly 1 21/23" (41.8 mm), neck depth at the first fret = .84", depth at the 12th = .98". Total weight = 9lbs 2oz.

Originality: All parts appear to be original to the guitar. When I received it, the bridge pickup solder was disturbed and the magnet was flipped to achieve an out of phase middle position. I flipped the magnet back and reinstalled the cover (pictures upon request). Additionally, the gold plating on the pickup covers and Lyre show far less corrosion than the tuners and ABR-1 bridge, but I believe that to be a result of different types of plating in the transitional year of 1965. The celluloid pickguard is the darkest I've seen and appears black in the pictures.

Repairs: None.

Notes: This super clean mono ES-355 is ready for the stage, studio, or collection! It's fine sounding example that is one of only 130 shipped in 1965, and many of those may have the skinny nut width. All total, only 309 mono ES-355s are listed in the shipment logs from 1961-1964, so very few of these exist. I'm thrilled to offer this one with so few hours on it.
