1965 Fender Stratocaster Olympic White
In a perfect world, no one would ever take advantage of Leo's perfect modular design for the Stratocaster, but you and I know that's not the world we live in. This 1965 Fender Stratocaster has an original matching neck and body with original finish, matching electronics and dates, and all hardware matches except the serial number and the pickguard. It came to me in this configuration direct from the widow of its previous owner for unknown decades. The pickguard and serial number plate both dated to 1962 which left an unused and misplaced pickguard screw hole on the bass side between the neck and middle pickups. I swapped in this original 1964 mint green pickguard to help it match a little better. The guitar has been messed with a bit, but all parts are real and correct for the time period.
Measurements: 7.4 lbs / 3.55kg total weight. The neck measures 1.68"/ 42.7mm wide at the nut, 0.86" deep at the 1st fret, and 0.98" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup measures 5.55k ohms, the middle reads 5.51k ohms, and the bridge pickup reads 5.58k ohms.
Dates: The serial number 86101 is typically found on guitars with 1962 dates. The pickups are all dated 6 - 24 - 65. The neck heel bears a June 1965 date stamp. The potentiometer codes indicate they were made during the 16th week of 1965.
Originality: Replaced serial number plate, replaced pickguard (real vintage 1964 pickguard), and many solder joints have been disturbed. It came to me with this serial number plate. The finish, pickups, neck, and body are original and undisturbed.
Playability: Good but could use frets. The neck is straight and the electronics function as intended. Someone has filed the original frets in an unprofessional manner.
Condition: Good. Typical finish checking, nicks, dings, and scratches abound giving in classic vintage guitar character. I did not observe any breaks or repairs.
Included: A modern hardshell case is included.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
