1962 Fender Custom Telecaster Sunburst

Regular price $35,995.00

This slab board 1962 Fender Custom Telecaster spent its entire life in Singapore and Malaysia until I purchased it on location outside of Kuala Lumpur in February of this year. Sold alongside a matching 1962 Fender Jaguar bearing a TMA sticker, we believe that both guitars were imported and sold new at this legendary music store in Singapore in the early 1960s. Unlike Fender guitars sold in the UK and Australia, TMA was able to import guitars directly from Gibson without a distributor in between. That's why they all come with original Fender and Gibson cases, instead of the typical import cases we see with exported guitars. While it did need repair, it remains perfectly playable on 100% original parts, solder, and finish.

Measurements: 7.4lbs (3.35 kg) total weight. The neck measures 1.68" (1 5/8") wide at the nut, 0.86" deep at the first fret, and 1.02" deep at the 12th fret (medium fat taper profile). The neck pickup reads 6.08k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 5.71k ohms.

Dates: The neck heel stamp reads "3MAR62B" where 3 = Telecaster model, MAR = March, 642= 1962, and B = standard neck width 1 5/8". The potentiometer codes read "304 6212" where 304 = Stackpole (manufacturer code), 62 = 1962, and 12 = 12th week.

Originality: All parts, finish, and solder are original to this guitar.

Playability: Excellent! The neck is straight, frets have little wear, and the electronics operate as intended.

Condition: Southeast Asia jungle condition. The clear finish on the neck is very dark. The body seam and fretboard glue joints were both failing so they were expertly glued and stabilized by my shop. They're both 100% solid and will pose no issues in the future, although a slight witness line remains.

Included: The original brown Tolex case is included.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
