Gibson Super 400 CES 1958
This 1958 Gibson Super 400 CES has just come in from the widow of its original owner and is one of the most well preserved vintage guitars that I've ever seen. It's in factory original near mint condition with all the hang tags, receipt, hard shell case, and case cover.
Year: 1958. Serial number "A28235". 15 made that year in Sunburst and 15 in Natural.
Measurements: 7.7 lbs total weight. The neck measures 1.67" / 42.4 mm wide at the nut and 0.92" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup measures 7.95k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 7.98k ohms.
Originality: Every part is original to this guitar. The solder on the bridge cover was reflowed at some point because the original owner experimented with the out of phase sound. It is now in phase.
Repairs: None.
Playability: Excellent! This is a fine playing example with straight neck and proper working truss rod. There is some fret wear, but not enough to warrant a refret in my opinion.
Included: The original Lifton hardshell case and case cover, Gibson hang tag with serial number and model stamp, receipt from purchase in 1958, switch tag, Professional's Attention tag, humbucker adjustment sheet, and tune-o-matic bridge adjustment sheet.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period on all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from refunds in the case of a return.
