Fender Jazzmaster 1961 Blond
This 1961 Fender Jazzmaster in original Blond finish over Ash body has survived in fantastic condition! It's original throughout and a spectacular player with a fresh set up. I purchased this beauty from the widow of its original owner who lived in north Alabama.
Make and Model: Fender Jazzmaster, Blond finish option.
Year: 1961. Neck heel date: 4/61, body bridge pickup cavity date 5/61, volume potentiometer code 137 9(18) (last two digits slightly obscured, but likely indicates the 18th week of 1959), tone potentiometer code 137 6043 (43rd week of 1960). Serial number 61xxx (check out Fender Serial Numbers).
Measurements: 8lbs 4oz total weight, nut width = 1 5/8", neck profile at the first fret = 0.80, 12th fret measures 0.98" depth.
Originality: All parts and finish are original to the guitar except for an era correct replacement tremolo arm.
Playability: Excellent! I've just completed a full cleaning and set up with: fresh pickup height foam, 0.5 degree full neck pocket neck shim, truss rod nut cleaned and lubricated, all electrical contacts cleaned, frets and neck cleaned, neck relief dialed into .001" on the treble side, and action set at 5/64" bass side tapering down to 4/64" on the treble side. There is some wear in the first three frets but I didn't find it to be enough to warrant a refret.
Condition: Very good. The body has typical wear including various nicks and dings, an gash on the back of the body on the bass side horn, and some light darkening in the forearm area.
