1966 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp

$1.00

This vintage 1966 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp with original Victoria Luggage cover has just emerged from the basement of the original owner! The filter capacitor can failed early on its life and it has been neglected as "broken" for decades. It has just returned from full inspection and service from the amp technician and it's in fine working condition on its original set of tubes. It sounds like a dream with thick cleans, harmonically rich drive, swampy reverb, and deep tremolo.

Make and Model: Fender Princeton Reverb-Amp

Year: 1966. Chassis assembly date stamp "2_66" indicating February of 1966. Tube chart ink stamp "OA" indicating it was assembled in January of 1965. Output transformer "606-5-39" indicating that it was manufactured by Schumacher during the 39th week of 1965. Get help with Fender guitar dating: How To Date A Vintage Fender Guitar Amp.

Originality: All parts original except for a fresh filter capacitor can, replaced reverb tank (original tank had only 1 of 2 working springs and is included), replaced bias section capacitor and resistor, grounded power cord installed. The amp didn't have knobs on the front when it arrived so I sourced a set from a similar era Princeton Reverb. All original parts included.

Playability: Excellent! It sounds like a dream on original tubes. There is some slight noise as the tubes heat up for a few minutes but is not present with a fresh 12ax7 preamp tube in the V1 position. I prefer original tubes so I've opted to keep the original RCA 7025 tube in that position.

Condition: Very good. There is some slight musty smell from long term basement storage if you smell inside the cabinet. The cover is still pretty dirty from storage as well. The grill cloth has darkened significantly and has a spill stain on the front.

Notes: I'm always amazed that fine amplifiers like this one were neglected over a simple service item like a failed filter capacitor can. I'm also glad that the neglect actually preserved it from being heavily played and abused for the past 50 years.
