1956 Gibson Les Paul Special
I purchased this very clean 1956 Gibson Les Paul Special in original Lifton hard shell case from the son of its original. The original finish, described in Gibson's own 1956 catalog as Limed Mahogany, is particularly well preserved appearing almost white instead of the typical amber yellow hue. When I hold it, I'm instantly transported back to the late 1950s when rock and roll was in its infancy.
Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Special
Year: 1956. Serial number "6 1319".
Measurements: 7.6 lbs / 3.5 kg. The neck width at the nut measures 1.69" (1 11/16") or 42.9mm. The neck profile at the first fret measures 0.89" deep and 0.97" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 7.35k ohms and the bridge pickup measures 7.65k ohms.
Originality: All parts and finish are original to this guitar with no repairs or modifications except for replaced buttons on the original tuners. The original buttons had crumbled.
Playability: Excellent! The frets have no visible wear, the neck is straight, and the truss rod and electronics all operate as intended.
Included: The original brown/pink Lifton hardshell case is included.
