1960 Gibson ES-345 Sunburst Bigsby

Regular price $27,995.00

This 1960 Gibson ES-345 with aftermarket dealer installed Bigsby was originally sold new at TMA music store in Singapore! It remained with its original owner, Dr. Seah Pong Pin, in Singapore until his death. I purchased this guitar on location from a luthier in Singapore who knew its original owner before he passed. Both the Custom Made plaque and the Bigsby B7 tailpiece are period correct for the early 1960s, so we suspect that they were likely installed at the dealer after leaving Gibson. The guitar is original except for the buttons on the tuners and a fantastic playing example.

Measurements: 8.4lbs (3.8 kg) total weight. The neck measures 1.69" (1 11/16", 43mm) wide at the nut, 0.80" deep at the first fret, and 0.90" deep at the 12th fret (medium taper profile). The neck pickup reads 8.7k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 8.1k ohms.

Dates: The serial number "A35267" shipped in 1960. The FON prefix R indicates that production of this batch began in 1960.

Originality: All parts, finish, and solder are original to this guitar except for the tuner buttons and dealer installed Custom Made plaque and Bigsby tailpiece. There's glue residue above the nut indicating that it's been reseated, but it does appear to be the original nut.

Playability: Very good. There is some wear on the frets, but I do not think it would benefit from a refret.

Condition: Good. There's typical finish checking and ambering of the clear coat. I observed no prior breaks or repairs except the nut being reglued.

Included: The original hardshell case is included.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
