1957 Fender Esquire Blond
Couldn't load pickup availability
I'm proud to introduce this 1957 Fender Esquire to the market for the first time ever! The story from the seller is that she acquired it from a family friend after they passed sometime in the 90s. She described herself as only a casual guitar player, but the only one the previous owner's family knew to pass it along to. The condition of the guitar when it came in matched the story: decades old strings, some grime from sitting in its original gig bag over time, and desperately in need of set up. I was thrilled to find a comfortable soft V neck profile typical of Fenders in 1957, all original parts and finish, and a strong sounding original pickup. The original Victoria Luggage gig bag looks so cool, but since it's not great at protecting a valuable vintage guitar, I'm including a nice G&G hardshell case with the sale.
Measurements: 7.3lbs (3.30 kg) total weight. The neck measures 1.65" wide at the nut, 0.90" deep at the first fret, and 1.00" deep at the 12th fret. The pickup reads 6.75l ohms.
Dates: Both the neck heel and bridge pickup cavity read "10 / 57" in pencil underneath the finish. The potentiometer codes read "304 732" (304 = Stackpole, 7 = 1957, and 32 = 32nd week of the year).
Originality: 100% original finish, parts, and solder.
Playability: Excellent! The neck is straight with proper working truss rod, the original frets are not worn, and the electronics operate as intended.
Condition: Good. The finish exhibits attractive checking throughout, with typical body edge wear and some staining. The top of the bridge pickup flatwork is warped a bit, there's corrosion on the metal parts comprising the bridge.
Included: The original Victoria Luggage soft case is included. The original bridge cover was not present when it came in.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
