This 1962 Fender Jazzmaster was finished at the factory in custom color Lake Placid Blue Metallic. Lake Placid Blue Metallic (or, LPB) falls in the mid range of collectibility for custom colors. A custom color Fender guitar is certainly an upgrade from a standard color like Sunburst but some are more desirable and more rare than others. LPB was fairly common but demand is high for this color. Shoreline Gold is both very rare and very desirable.
LPB was usually shot with nitrocellulose lacquer but shot over with clear nitro. The clear coat was prone to fading to a yellow color which causes many LPB finishes to look green. The finish underneath the pickguard is not exposed to sunlight so it is a more accurate representation of the color.
I'm always looking for vintage Fender guitars in custom colors. Let me know if you have a Fender Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Telecaster or Stratocaster. I'm also looking for vintage Fender Coronados, Coronado IIs, Duo-Sonics, Mustangs, etc. I'm happy to check them out and give an offer on them.
