Vintage 1962 Fender Jazzmaster guitar Lake Placid Blue
Fender debuted the Jaguar model in 1962 as the next jewel in the offset line. The Jaguar featured a slightly modified version of the Jazzmaster’s offset body, proprietary shielded single coil pickups, a rhythm/lead circuit with bass cut switch, a new “Fender Mute” bridge mute and the Jazzmaster’s tremolo and bridge system. Fender placed the Jazzmaster and Jaguar guitars at the top of the line in the early 1960s. Custom colors were offered for offset guitars including Olympic White, Candy Apple Red Metallic, Lake Placid Blue Metallic and more.
This 1966 Fender Jaguar in rare factory custom color Lake Placid Blue Metallic with matching headstock shows very little playing wear and comes to you in very nice collectible and playable condition. All parts appear to be original to the guitar except the strings and the nice G&G Case Co reissue case. The neck is straight and the frets are in excellent playing condition. The original LPB finish is free of excessive greening and overspray/touch up. It’s possible that the original case was heat damaged and discarded in favor of this new case. There’s evidence of possible heat damage at the very top edge of the headstock although the finish isn’t blistered but smooth.
