This vintage 1969 Fender Mustang electric guitar in original Competition Red finish with white stripes came through the shop a few years ago. The Red finish would also be called Candy Apple Red Metallic if on a professional grade Fender in a custom color during that time period. I'm always a vintage Fender guitar buyer but I especially love Mustang guitar. Please contact me here to sell a vintage Fender guitar.
The Fender Mustang debuted in 1964 as a quality electric guitar at an affordable price. Leo's team packed it with cool features like the offset body design, tremolo tailpiece and two pickups with phase switchable wiring. The guys at Fender introduced a new set of colors in 1969 they called the Competition series that came in Red, Burgundy and Orange. Many players consider the Competition color era Mustang as the pinnacle of the run because of the introduction of the contour body shape as well as of course, those killer racing stripes.
This 1969 Fender Mustang has survived in very nice shape and is ready to play. All parts appear to be original to the guitar except for the strings. The finish is clean but does show some nicks and scratches from being played. The frets show very little wear and the guitar is a joy to play. We're confident you'll love this killer 1969 Fender Competition Mustang in Red with matching headstock!
