This vintage 1964 Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar with Cherry Sunburst finish and ADJ saddle came through the shop a few years ago. I'm always a vintage Gibson guitar buyer but I especially love the 1950s and 1960s acoustic guitars. Contact me here to sell a vintage Gibson guitar

"Ken" bought this guitar back in '64 to play his favorite Country/Western tunes. It's still in great shape with no cracks or breaks. The only repairs are a few reglued back braces and a reglued bridge. Everything is original to the guitar except for two bridge pins and the strings. The fretboard shows moderate wear in the cowboy chord area (he said he played country!) but the frets are still in very good shape. It plays great up and down the fretboard and will not need a refret. Ken etched his name in the lower corner of the pickguard about an inch long and the initial K on the truss rod cover. This J-45 needs nothing and will be a solid workhorse for years to come.

Most 1964 and some 1965 Gibson J-45s had the wider, 1 11/16th inch nut width including this guitar. The neck profile is a comfortable width with a bit shallower depth than a 50s J-45. This neck feels very similar to the modern Gibson acoustic neck profile. The light build of these J-45s makes for both a great fingerpicker or strummer (edit: sold!)
