1957 Gibson Les Paul Special 1960s Blue Metallic

$9,995.00

This vintage 1957 Gibson Les Paul Special has just arrived from the step grandson in law of its original owner! Its original owner passed away sometime in 1960s. She had it completely oversprayed in a metallic blue nitro finish at some point.

Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Special

Year: 1957. Serial number with 7 prefix, single cutaway. Check out How to date a vintage Gibson Les Paul guitar.

Measurements: 7 lbs 13 oz total weight, neck depth at the first fret = .92", depth at the 12th fret = 1.02". Nut width = 1 11/16".

Originality: The entire guitar has been oversprayed with a metallic blue nitrocellulose finish except for the face of the headstock, and the rest original finish remains underneath the blue. The original tuner buttons crumbled so I installed replacement cream buttons. The replacement pickguard is a clear plastic with gold painted back that was likely installed at the time of the overspray. All other parts appear to be original to the guitar including pickups, frets, plastic, bridge, switch tip, truss rod cover, tuners, and jack plate.

Playability: Excellent! The truss rod nut still has undisturbed black paint which indicates that it's never been adjusted. The neck relief measures .009" with string tension so I've opted not to adjust the nut. The frets show some wear but are still in excellent condition. It's a killer playing example!

Included: Original chipboard alligator case with Sherman Clay badge (likely originally sold at this store in Seattle, WA), and white Bobby Lee leather strap.
