1963 Gibson ES-335 Cherry Red

$13,995.00

We purchased this Gibson ES-335 in Cherry from the daughter of the second owner. Her dad got it in 1970, followed by her uncle who took it out on the road for 6 months. He played in some bands most likely in the 80s. The neck on this example was repaired and refinished but the repair is very solid and the neck is dead straight. An all around great player for a great price.

Measurements: 8.6 lbs / 3.9 kg total weight. The neck measures 1.68"/ 42.6mm wide at the nut, 0.83" deep at the 1st fret, and 0.90" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 7.78k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 7.51k ohms.

Originality: This guitar has replaced saddles, switch tip, and bridge volume knob (era-correct). The "custom" truss rod cover, "custom made" plaque, and Bigsby are not original to this guitar but are believed to be era-correct. Otherwise all parts, finish, and solder are original. The neck was repaired and reset at some point in its life and refinished in black.

Playability: Killer! The neck is straight, the original frets show little wear, and the electronics function as intended.

Condition: Good. The cherry finish on the body has typical checking and remains unfaded. The neck has been repaired and refinished in black and there is a chip on the top right corner of the headstock. Otherwise typical nicks, dings, scratches, checking, and a couple very minor cracks on the bass side neck binding.

Included: This guitar comes with a quirky cheetah print interior in a era correct hardshell case.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
