1959 Gibson ES-355 T Mono Watermelon Red Thin Top
Couldn't load pickup availability
I'm pleased to offer this clean 1959 Gibson ES-355 Mono in original Watermelon red with thin top that we purchased from the family of its original owner last year! This is the earliest example of the side pull vibrato we've ever seen, and there are no holes from any other tailpiece. Gibson's shipment ledger indicates that this guitar shipped from Gibson on April 22, 1959. It's a dream to play on unworn original frets, and the side pull vibrato stays in tune nicely.
Measurements: 9.0 lbs / 4.1 kg total weight. The neck measures 1.69"/ 42.7mm wide at the nut, 0.88" deep at the 1st fret, and 0.98" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 7.77k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 7.05k ohms.
Originality: All finish, solder, and parts appear to be original to this guitar except for the solder on the pickup covers.
Playability: Killer! The neck is straight, the original frets show little wear, and the electronics function as intended.
Condition: Amazing. The original watermelon version of the Cherry Red finish is vibrant and unfaded. There's a small area of possibly buckle wear on the back of the body. There are no breaks or repairs.
Included: The original case (with brown tape added to the edges) and the canvas case cover are included with the guitar.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
