Gibson Les Paul Custom 1969

Gibson Les Paul Custom 1969

$1.00

This 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom has just recently come in from its sole owner since the early 1970s! I could tell it was played and enjoyed thoroughly early on in its life, but was stored away unplayed for the last few decades. I tasked the luthier I work with to refret it inside the binding to retain every bit of the very small binding nibs. He did exactly that; the resulting guitar is among the finest Les Pauls I've ever played. I'm confident you'll love it as much as I do.

Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Custom

Year: 1969. Serial number 891590. No MADE IN USA stamp, very small volute, three piece Mahogany neck, potentiometer codes indicating they were made during the 3xth week of 1969 (last two digits covered by solder). Short neck tenon, center layer pancake body.

Measurements: 9 lbs 15 oz / 4.45 kg total weight. The neck profile measures 0.85" deep at the first fret and 1.07" deep at the 12th.

Noticed on arrival: No evidence of any prior neck repair. Overspray on the back of the neck covering bare wood from playing wear, original pickup covers were previously removed, toggle switch tip missing.

My repair: Jason Burns performed an amazing refret inside the binding. It did not require planing the fretboard. He shimmed the bottom of the original nut to raise the slots a bit. I sourced a reproduction switch tip.

Condition: A total vibe. There are plenty of nicks and dings from being played and loved.

Originality: All parts appear to be original to the guitar except the frets and switch tip.

Playability: Absolutely perfect. This is truly one of the finest Les Pauls I've played. I'm confident you'll love the way it plays and sounds.
