1965 Fender Stratocaster

$19,395.00 $23,995.00

This 1965 Fender Stratocaster is one of the last with the pre-CBS features including the three layer nitrate pickguard! It's been played a lot but definitely babied its entire life. It's a really fun player with great worn in feel and vibe.

Make and Model:  Fender Stratocaster

Year: 1965. Serial number "L37841", neck heel ink stamp "2MAY65B" (2 = Stratocaster model, MAY = month, 65 = 1965, and B = standard neck width 1 5/8"). Potentiometer code "304 6516" (304 = Stackpole, 65 = 1965, and 16 = 16th week).

Measurements: 7.5 lbs / 3.4 kg overall weight. The neck measures 1.67" or 42.5mm wide at the nut, 0.81" deep at the first fret, and 0.98" deep at the 12th fret.  The neck, middle, and bridge pickups measure 6.1k ohms, 5.1k ohms, and 5.0k ohms respectively.

Originality: All parts and finish are original to the guitar except for the plastic tip of the tremolo arm and the springs on the pickups (originals in case). The volume pot was crudely replaced at one point, but the original came with it. I cleaned the pot and reinstalled. I wrapped the leads under the bridge pickup with a piece of tape just like the factory would have done it.

Condition: Very nice. There's a forearm wear area that's a little dull from wearing through the clear coat. The back of the neck is beautifully worn with much of the finish worn away.

Playability: Very good! The only thing keeping the playability from being perfect is the fret wear in frets 1 through 6. It can be felt, but I enjoyed playing the guitar as is. You may wish to have it refretted.

Included: Original no logo case, bridge cover, and a picture of it on stage with its original owner.
