Early 1965 Gibson SG Standard Wide Nut 1 11/16"

Regular price $14,995.00

While the serial number indicates this SG Standard shipped in the first few months of 1965, the wide nut, all nickel hardware, single line Kluson tuners, and 1964 potentiometer date codes indicate that it was made in 1964. It's a very cool example that did sustain a neck joint repair at some point in its life. It was not yet repaired but holding together fine when I got it, so it was a perfect candidate for the skilled luthier that I've worked with for over 15 years now. The neck joint was professionally repaired and is stronger than it was before. The only difference between this and one that hasn't been repaired is cosmetic.

Measurements: 7.2 lbs / 3.25kg total weight. The neck measures 1.69"/ 43mm wide at the nut, 0.80" deep at the 1st fret, and 0.98" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 7.68k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 7.51k ohms.

Originality: Older refret, newly replaced nut (bone), replaced switch tip, replaced mounting screws for the pickup rings. All other parts, finish, and solder appear to be original to this guitar.

Repairs: The neck joint sustained a crack long ago and it was repaired by the shop I work with recently. It's rock solid. The output jack area also sustained a crack at some point but has been repaired and is solid.

Playability: Good. The refret is older and not as clean as the ones performed by the shop I work with, but it plays nicely.

Condition: Good. Typical finish checking, nicks, dings, and scratches abound giving in classic vintage guitar character.

Included: The original hardshell case is included.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
