1962 Fender Stratocaster Fiesta Red with Box
Couldn't load pickup availability
This dream package of an original 1962 Fender Stratocaster in Fiesta Red finish with the hang tags and shipping box has just come in from the original owner from New Zealand! Unlike larger markets like Australia and the UK, New Zealand did not have a distributor, so buyers had to import Fender guitars directly from Fender. That's why this guitar still has its original Fender case and shipping box with the New Zealand address stamped on the side. Oh, and yes the story is true that the red Strat on the Shadows's album cover inspired many players (that's Hank's signature on the front of the Strat).
The guitar itself is a dream find on its own: an original custom color Fiesta Red with untouched finish and solder throughout! In fact, it's 100% original except for the first 7 frets which have been painstakingly transferred from the end of the fretboard of an early 1960s Jazzmaster. The work is clean and undetectable and it plays like a dream.
Measurements: 7.8lbs (3.55 kg) total weight. The neck measures 1.67" wide at the nut, 0.85" deep at the first fret, and 1.00" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 5.60k ohms, the middle pickup reads 5.29k, and the bridge pickup reads 5.27k ohms.
Dates: The neck heel stamp reads "2JUL62B" where 2 = Stratocaster model, JUL = July, 62 = 1962, and B = standard neck width (1 5/8"). The potentiometer codes read "304 6232" (304 = Stackpole, 62 = 1962, and 32 = 32nd week of the year).
Originality: All original finish, solder, and parts except for the first 7 frets which are genuine early 1960s unworn Fender frets.
Playability: Excellent! The neck is straight with proper working truss rod, the original frets are not worn, and the electronics operate as intended.
Condition: Very good. The original Fiesta Red finish shows lots of wear, scratches, and some flaking on the treble side edge of the body. There are no breaks or repairs.
Included: The original shipping box, hang tag, instruction manual, bridge cover, tremolo arm, brown case, and pictures of the original owner are all included.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
