1960 Fender Stratocaster Firemist Gold Factory Refinish 1965
Couldn't load pickup availability
The Fender factory refinished guitars are some of my favorite vintage guitars in existence. The Fender catalogs in the 1960s even listed Refinishing as an option for these guitar priced at only $50. The best ones came back in rare custom colors like this 1960 Stratocaster in factory Firemist Gold finish. It retains all the best parts of 1960 including the slab Rosewood fretboard, all three pickups, and all electronics. During the update, Fender swapped in a new pickguard and knobs but left all the solder and other parts.
Measurements: 7.4 lbs / 3.35 kg total weight. The neck measures 1.67" / 42.2 mm wide at the nut, 0.80" deep at the first fret, and 0.98" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 5.15k ohms, middle pickup reads 5.39k ohms, and the bridge pickup reads 5.47k ohms (all within normal Strat resistance range).
Originality: All parts, finish, and solder are original to the guitar as it left the factory refinish in 1965. The neck and body are both the original parts and both were finished by Fender in 1965. The case was new in 1965 (standard pre-CBS no logo case).
Playability: Killer! Everything functions exactly as it is intended.
Condition: Very clean with light vertical checking. There's evidence of the degraded foam from the body guard around the edge of the body.
Included: The no logo 1964 era case, strap with gold buckle, Parker boy guard, and hang tag from 1960 are included.
Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.

Fender Stratocasters: Better with a Hardtail?
There is something different about a Fender Stratocaster that's been lovingly played and cherished for half a century. My favorite Stratocaster we've been fortunate enough to have in the shop this year, and frankly one of my favorite guitars of all time was a 1960 Fender Stratocaster in sunburst. Sounds boring right? Well, this Strat has a trick up its sleeve. It left the factory with a "Hardtail" configuration.
