The Les Paul has been in production in some form since 1952 with a short hiatus from 1963 to 1968. The new Gibson company has been building the Les Paul in their Nashville plant since 1984. In 2002, Gibson began offering the Les Paul Standard with either a larger 50s size neck or a slimmer 60s neck.
This Les Paul Standard came from the factory with a Trans Amber finish over a plus rated figured Maple top. The 50s neck was comfortable and the top figure had a three dimensional nature in shifting light. This was a very fine electric guitar.
