Gibson's Hummingbird model debuted in 1960 as the first Gibson branded acoustic guitar with the new square shoulder design. Advertising from its introduction suggests that the shape of the body - large square shoulders and a slightly less wide lower bout - was intended to produce a tone that complimented vocals well. Gibson described it as "big, and round, and full with the deep rumbly bass so prized by guitar players." What do you think from these sound clips? Did they hit the mark?
We're always looking for vintage Gibson acoustic guitars. The Hummingbird model holds a special place in our hearts! Are you looking for a buyer for your vintage Gibson Hummingbird or similar? Reach out to us here at our Sell Your Guitar page. We would love to check it out.
