The vintage guitar pictured below is a clean 1952 Gibson Les Paul Model, often referred to as a gold top. The Les Paul was Gibson's first solid body electric guitar meant for Spanish style playing (or standard, when compared with Hawaiian style with a slide). Gibson began building the Les Paul to compete with the rising popularity of Fender's solid body electric guitar. This guitar is from the Les Paul's first year of production.
This guitar conforms to the typical specifications of late 1952 or very early 1953 with a wrap under trapeze tailpiece, neck binding, large control knobs and no serial number.
