1968 Gibson Trini Lopez Standard
Posted on November 16 2020
This vintage 1968 Gibson Trini Lopez Standard was a phenomenal example that came through the shop last year. I purchased it from its original owner outside of Denver, Colorado. The Trini Lopez Standard model is very similar to the Gibson ES-335 model in that it features a thinline body with solid center block, hollow wings, and two humbucking pickups. It differs from the ES-335 in that it has a non-Reverse Firebird style headstock with 6 tuners on one side, split diamond fretboard inlays, diamond style sound holes, and a fancy engraved plate on the tailpiece.
Make and Model: Gibson Trini Lopez Standard
Year: 1968. 1967 potentiometer codes although the full date codes are obscured by solder. Logo on the pickguard. Serial 905xxx.
Specifications: Thinline archtop with solid center block, 19th fret neck joint, non-Reverse style headstock, diamond fretboard inlays and sound holes. 1 9/16" nut width, 8 lbs 4 oz, two patent sticker humbucking pickups.
Notes: Just in from the daughter of the original owner! This clean 1968 Gibson Trini Lopez Standard has survived in incredible condition and plays like a new instrument. I flew into Denver, Colorado on my way back from Montana while buying a '41 Gibson SJ-100 to meet this seller. I knew as soon as the case opened that I had to have it.
