Vintage Gibson SG Standard 1967 electric guitar Cherry Red

This vintage 1967 Gibson SG Standard electric guitar in Cherry Red finish with original case and tag came through the shop a few years ago. I'm always a vintage Gibson guitar buyer but I especially love the electric guitars from the 1950s and 1960s. Please contact me here to sell a vintage Gibson guitar

Gibson's SG body style debuted in 1961 as the next version of the Les Paul signature model. It wasn't until 1963 that the "Les Paul" graphic was removed from the headstock in favor of the classic "Crown" inlay and it was renamed "SG Standard." The SG featured a solid Mahogany body and neck with two of Gibson's popular humbucking pickups. Other important features included a neck that joined the body at the 19th fret and two cutaways that allow full access to the entire fretboard. The Standard model also came with fancy trimmings including a bound neck, trapezoid fretboard inlays, Lyre vibrola and the Gibson logo inlaid in pearl on the headstock. The timeless SG body shape went in to production in 1961 and has remained in production ever since.

This SG has lived the rock and roll lifestyle but has been well kept and still retains all the original paperwork and hard shell case. Paperwork includes the original hang tag, sales receipt with matching serial number showing the purchase date of August 8, 1967 from Sam Ash Music in New York, the Humbucking Pickup adjustment sheet and Tune-O-Matic bridge adjustment sheet. Playabilty is excellent thanks to a recent professional set up and light fret dressing. The frets are in great shape and have plenty of life left in them. All electronics are original and untouched. All hardware and parts are original with the exception of a replaced switch tip. The original electronics cavity cover is included however it has been engraved with the original owner's information. There is a replacement currently installed. The finish is original and shows wear including dents, scratches and some belt buckle worming on the back. The finish has been cleaned and polished. The nut is original to the guitar and has two chunks taken out of it. I considered having a new bone nut installed but it functions well so I decided to leave the decision to the next owner.

This SG is in great playing condition and ready to get back on stage. It's so rare to find one will all the provenance and paperwork (edit: sold!)
