1970 Fender Princeton Reverb vintage guitar amp

This vintage 1970 Fender Princeton Reverb guitar amplifier came through the shop a few years ago. I'm always a vintage Fender amp buyer but I especially love the 1960s and 1970s Princeton Reverb guitar amps. You can contact me here to sell a vintage Fender amp.

The blackface and early silverface era Fender Princeton Reverb is an iconic amplifier that has become one of the most desirable recording amps today. Its versatile platform is just as comfortable at home, in the studio or at a gig. This amp is powered by a pair of 12ax7 preamp tubes driving two 6v6 power tubes making about 12 watts of power. It’s tube rectified and uses a 12at7 and 7025 to drive the spring reverb and tremolo section. The 10″ speaker is housed in a fingerjointed solid Pine cabinet for tone and ease of portability. Unlike the reissue, the original Princeton Reverb is all hand wired using an eyelet board to keep everything clean. The resulting amplifier boasts big cleans, smooth overdriven tones, classic Fender reverb and some of the finest tremolo around.

This particular Princeton Reverb was completed in November of 1970 and features late 1969 and early 1970 part date codes. It has suffered no damage, repairs or heavy playing time. The outer Tolex is nice and without rips or tears. The original eyelet board is clean and the solder is untouched. All tubes appear to be original to the amp and test strong. The original Oxford 10" speaker is strong and bears the correct 1970 date code. The original two prong power supply is in excellent condition so I’ve decided to leave the 3 prong modification at the discrimination of the buyer. The only maintenance performed was a light cleaning of the potentiometers, switches, inputs and tube sockets with contact cleaner. The Tolex and chassis are clean but do show light evidence of oxidation.

This amplifier functions like new and currently is not in need of anything. This silverface Princeton Reverb is an excellent example of a clean and original piece that is ready to played. You won't be disappointed with the way this one sounds (edit: sold!).
