"ES-355TD-(SV) -- This magnificent (stereo) Jazz guitar reflects all the beauty and skill of the guitar maker's art. With tone ranging from clear treble to throaty a bass, with thrilling vibrato and instant response, it offers the accomplished artist a truly amazing range of sound... ES-355TD - as above but without stereo and Varitone" -- The 1966 Gibson catalog offers only a short description of the rare monoaural output and non-Varitone version of the top of the line ES-355TD!

Make and Model: Gibson ES-355tdc custom ordered mono, factory Grover tuners, factory Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.

Year: 1967. Serial 898xxx hand written in ink, no volute, gold reflector knobs.

Specifications: Thinline archtop with solid center block, 19th fret neck joint, full Custom (level 4 trim) appointments including Custom inlay on the headstock, multi layer binding throughout, gold hardware, Ebony fretboard with large pearl block inlays. 1 9/16" nut width, .84" neck depth at the first fret, 1.02" neck depth at the 12th fret, 8 lbs 14 oz, two patent sticker humbucking pickups, factory ordered with mono output, Grover tuners, and Bigbsy vibrato tailpiece.

Originality: All parts original to the guitar except the strings!

Condition: Excellent! This guitar is very clean with no breaks or repairs. It exhibits light tarnish on the gold hardware, light finish checking, and typical light off gassing and deterioration of the original cellulose pickguard.

Playability: Excellent! This is an excellent sounding example that needs nothing. The neck is straight and the frets are full height with almost no signs of prior player wear. The potentiometers, switch, and input jack have been cleaned and adjusted and function like new.

Notes: Just in from the son of what would have been the original owner, custom ordered before his passing. The son I purchased the guitar from inherited the guitar long ago after his father ordered it from Gibson but passed away before he was able to pick it up. The son played the guitar lightly throughout his ownership of the guitar but decided to sell recently after his retirement. I'm thrilled to offer a rare mono Gibson ES-355tdc from the son of the original owner but even more excited about its custom appointments. It seems that the gentleman preferred Grover tuning machines and the Bigsby tailpiece so he ordered it that way. I don't mind the more common sealed Kluson tuners often found on these guitars but I do prefer the greater break angle over the bridge that the Bigsby tailpiece offers compared to the Lyre vibrola and the trapeze style tailpiece. I'm confident you'll love this clean, one owner, all original 1967 Gibson ES-355tdc with original Lifton hard shell case!
