Gibson Hummingbird 1961 with tags
I purchased this stunning 1961 Gibson Hummingbird from the widow of its original owner only a few weeks ago. I was shocked to find it with all its original hang tags, receipts for payments, and Lifton hard shell case. Gibson shipped only 595 examples in 1961 so I'm very pleased that this one has survived in such fine condition.

Make and Model: Gibson Hummingbird
Year: 1961. The original sales receipt is dated October 16th, 1961. The serial number is 22604.
Measurements: 4.6 lbs / 2.0 kg overall weight. The nut width measures exactly 1.66" / 1 43/64". The neck profile measures 0.78" at the first fret and 0.90" at the 12th fret.
Originality: All parts and finish are original to this guitar. I believe that the bridge has been reglued. There is a 1/4 crack between the fretboard extension and pickguard which was glued and cleated. The end pin strap button was moved to the heel of the neck.
Condition: Very fine. The top finish is still bright Cherry Red Sunburst but shows some light checking. There are no cracks except between the one between the pickguard and fretboard.
Playability: Excellent. The neck is straight, the action is set at 3/32" bass side and 2/32" treble side with plenty of room to lower the saddle if you wish.
Included: Original Lifton hard case with Lifton tag, Gibson hang tag with "HUMMING BIRD" stamp, receipts from trade in and payoff, letter from the dealer to the buyer dated March 8, 1962.
