Gibson Les Paul Model 1952

Gibson Les Paul Model 1952

$1.00

I'm thrilled to offer this killer 1952 Gibson Les Paul goldtop to the market for the first time since it was sold new. I purchased it from the family of the original owner out of Tulsa, Oklahoma only a few weeks ago. It's a fantastic playing example of the first year of the legendary carved top solid body electric guitar from Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan. While many players prefer to modify the early tailpieces to wrap the strings over the bridge, I enjoyed playing this one in its factory set up. I think it's worth your time to give it a shot with the wrap under bridge too, but a wrap over style bridge is only a restring away if you prefer.

Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Model

Year: 1952 (no serial number). 5/8" tall knobs.

Measurements: 9 lbs / 4.10 kg overall weight. The neck width measures 1.68"/42.8 mm (1 11/16") at the nut. The neck profile measures 0.90" deep at the first fret and 0.98" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 6.28k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 7.54k ohms.

Originality: All finish and parts are original to this guitar except the truss rod cover and the jack plate. Both are vintage correct parts and not repro.

Playability: Excellent! While there is some fret wear, I didn't find it to be significant enough that it would benefit from a refret. The neck is straight and the electronics operate as intended. The truss rod operates as intended. It's also one of the ones that appears to have left the factory with the pickup magnets pointing in the reverse direction from each other. This results in an out of phase middle position. I'd be happy to turn one magnet around to put it in phase if you prefer (no solder required).

Condition: Just enough wear to look vintage but not worn out. The forearm wear is super attractive and the finish checking is very natural looking. There are various nicks, dings and scratches throughout but none that affect playability or feel. The relic guitars should take note of this one!

Included: The original Lifton brown and pink hard shell case is included.
