1965 Fender Stratocaster Candy Apple Red

1965 Fender Stratocaster Candy Apple Red

$1.00

This 1965 Fender Stratocaster in original Candy Apple Red Metallic finish has just come in from its sole owner since 1971! The previous owner made it his own with a jumbo refret with light fretboard plane and a changed bridge pickup, but the finish is the true original custom color finish that this guitar left the Fullerton factory with in 1965. It's a killer playing example with super attractive wear and even has its original no logo case.

Make and Model: Fender Stratocaster

Year: 1965. Serial number L81986, neck heel ink stamp "2JUN65B" where 2 = Stratocaster model, JUN = June, 65 = 1965, and B is the standard 1 5/8" neck width.

Originality: Reproduction bridge pickup by Tom Brantley, neck pickup rewound and replaced leads, middle pickup coil is original but has replaced leads. Refret with light fretboard plane, large jumbo frets, and replaced nut. The pots are original except the neck tone pot was replaced with a 1966 pot (original included with broken shaft), old 5 way switch feels like a three way, and most cloth wires replaced. The plastics are original except the first tone knob. The CAR finish is original and untouched but the neck finish has light overspray.

Playability: Excellent! The neck is straight, truss rod operates as intended, and the jumbo frets have a million miles left to go. The electronics operate as intended. I've enjoyed every minute of playing this guitar and will be sad to see it go.

Included: The original no logo case is included but is heavily worn. One hinge is corroded and not moving freely.
