1961 Gibson Les Paul Junior

1961 Gibson Les Paul Junior

$1.00

This vintage 1961 Gibson Les Paul Junior in original Cherry Red finish has just come in from its original owner. Roger worked as a gas station attendant in the early 1960s and saved his money to buy it. He kept it in good condition all these years but decided to sell after arthritis made it difficult for him to play.

Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Junior

Year: 1961. Four digit impressed serial number, short lip reflector knobs, slim neck profile. For more on Gibson Les Paul guitar dating, check out How To Date A Vintage Gibson Les Paul

Measurements: 1 11/16" nut witdth, .80" neck depth at the first fret, .89" depth at the 12th fret. Total weight = 7 lbs 1 oz.

Originality: All parts original to the guitar except for the strings. One screw is missing from the pickguard.

Condition: Very good with light checking and only slight fade on the top. No breaks or repairs. There is a large ding present on the body below the bridge, and a few dings and scratches on the edge of the body in various places.

Playability: Killer! The neck is straight, original large frets are good, and the original P-90 is super strong and thick. There is mild fret wear but not enough to affect playability.

Repairs and mods: None.

Notes: This is a fabulous LP Junior for those looking for a slimmer neck profile than the big necks found in the late 1950s. It's still got all the cool vibe of a real vintage double cut Junior. Roger said that the original case deteriorated so he tossed it. It's currently in a nice fitting Hamer brand case that is included in the sale. I'm confident you'll love this one!
