The Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-9 debuted in 1982 and lasted only until it was updated to the TS-10 in 1985. The TS-9’s circuitry was almost identical to the TS-808 except that the output section was updated which resulted in it having a bit brighter and slightly more cutting tone. The Tube Screamer’s popularity grew and the TS-9 was eventually reissued in 1992. For more information on vintage Tube Screamers visit Analogman.com.
This rare black label 1982 Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-9 has survived in excellent condition. It retains all its original parts and functions properly. This pedal was likely originally meant to be an OD-850 since it has a bright orange undercoat that’s visible inside the battery compartment and in a few paint chips. We observed the date code 8212 (12th week of 1982) on the side of the capacitors. The pedal is in perfect functional condition and is ready for the stage, studio, or collection.
