Gibson Les Paul Junior 1955

$1.00

I purchased this very clean 1955 Gibson Les Paul Junior from the son of its original owner last week. It's a very clean example and is a fine player as well. It has a strange feature I've not see before in any P-90 Les Paul: the base plate of the pickup is neither a dog ear mount nor a center mount for a soap bar cover. Instead, there are two factory drilled screws holding the pickup to the body on the bridge side of the base plate. It's undoubtedly factory since there are no other holes in the body and all solder is factory applied. You can scroll through the photos here to see for yourself.

Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Junior

Year: 1955. Serial number "512811".

Measurements: 7.6 lbs / 3.45 kg. The neck measures 1.71" wide at the nut, 0.91" deep at the first fret, and 1.02" deep at the 12th fret.

Originality: All parts and finish are original to this guitar except for period correct no line Kluson tuners with replaced buttons and the bridge post bushings. We installed 1" long (post 1956 style) bushings to correct for leaning 1/2" original posts. There is slight finish touch up in front of the bass side bushings.

Playability: Excellent! This guitar operates exactly as its manufacturer intended it. I've adjusted the neck relief to about .004" and the action at the 12th fret to 5/64" bass side and 4/64" treble side. There is plenty of room to adjust the neck relief and action to your liking.

Condition: Excellent! There is light finish checking and typical nicks and dings present.

Included: Original chipboard case in nice condition.
