Vintage 1970 Fender Mustang Competition Red electric guitar

The Fender Mustang debuted in 1964 as a quality electric guitar at an affordable price. Leo's team packed it with cool features like the offset body design, tremolo tailpiece and two pickups with phase switchable wiring. The guys at Fender introduced a new set of colors in 1969 they called the Competition series that came in Red, Burgundy and Orange. The initial run of these Competition Mustangs, including this guitar,  featured a matching color headstocks.

This 1970 Fender Competition Mustang in Red has survived in excellent original condition and is ready to go back to work. All electronics are original to the guitar and in excellent working condition. The original Mustang wiring allows for single pickup, dual pickup in phase, and dual pickup out of phase selection that can go from driving blues tone to spanky funk sounds. The neck is straight and the original frets have almost no wear and a full life ahead of them. The original case is also in good condition but does have an identification name and number written in sharpie on the top. The guitar too has this same number engraved on the serial number plate and on the heel of the body just above the plate.
