"TELECASTER AND ESQUIRE MODEL: The Telecaster dual pickup and Esquire single pickup are among the most popular models in the entire Electric Spanish guitar field. These instruments feature a new style construction which vastly improves their usability. A new type one piece neck is reinforced with an adjustable tension rod which provides a means for keeping the neck perfectly straight. This new slender neck is a great aid to easy fretting and fast action, and it is replaceable by the owner in a matter of a few minutes- thus eliminating costly and time consuming repairs. The body of these outstanding instruments is designed to provide easy accessibility to the entire length of the neck, thereby making it possible to play full chords to the very end of the fret board... The pickups on these guitars are fully adjustable allowing one to get any desired tone response and in addition to this there is a full range tone control. A three position tone change switch is provided which allows instantaneous changes from a sharp ringing 'take off' or 'Lead' tone to a very soft 'Rhythm' tone... The Fender Telecaster and Esquire guitars are truly great instruments and one which all players will want." -- 1957 Fender Catalog

Originality: All parts original except the strings.

Condition: Excellent! The finish shows very light checking throughout. It’s been played very sparingly throughout its lifetime. The frets show full height with no wear. I've opted against polishing the frets

Playability: Excellent! It’s a dream to play. The neck is straight and the frets exhibit virtually no wear.

Notes: This nearly unbelievably clean Telecaster is just in from the widow of the original owner out of Abilene, Texas. Velva Jo ordered this guitar as a surprise gift for her husband Donald brand new in the late 1950s. He ended up preferring his 1948 Martin D-28 and played his Telecaster sparingly until his passing more than 30 years ago. She held on to his Telecaster as a keep sake until deciding to down size and move out of her house. The 12 hour drive from Birmingham, AL to Abilene Texas to retrieve the guitar was well worth it.

What originally sold me on the entire package was the condition of the original case. Both latch springs are in good condition, the leather ends show little wear, and the tweed on the case is free of significant wear. The body of the guitar exhibits typical checking but light wear throughout. The frets and neck are perfect. I'll never forget this incredible instrument and its story.
