1956 Gibson Les Paul Model (goldtop)

$64,995.00

I'm proud to present this clean 1956 Gibson Les Paul goldtop to the market for the first time since it was sold new! I purchased it from the niece of its original owner in Buffalo, NY. Her aunt took out a loan to buy the guitar new and her father co-signed on the loan. The aunt only took a few lessons before deciding that being a guitar player wasn't for her and considered defaulting on the loan. Her father decided to pay off the loan even though he didn't play.

Make and Model: Gibson Les Paul Model

Year: 1956. Serial number "6_7609".

Measurements: 8.2 lbs / 3.7 kg total weight. The neck width measures 1.73" (43.9mm) wide at the nut. The neck profile measures 0.92" deep at the first fret and 1.00" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 7.92k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 7.65k ohms.

Originality: All parts are original to this guitar except for two saddles and both strap buttons. The two replacement saddles are reproduction but the strap buttons are vintage correct. All finish is original, but there are some very small lacquer drop fills on the buckle rash on the back (done long ago). Amazingly, the commonly replaced jack plate is original and unbroken.

Condition: Excellent! It's stunningly clean with very low miles. There is a slight wing delamination under the e string tuner (no movement). It's never had a neck crack or repair and has never had a different tailpiece. The finish shows attractive checking.

Playability: 100% exactly as the manufacturer intended it. It's so nice to play factory frets with original crowns and no fret wear at all. The neck is straight, truss rod functions as intended, and the electronics function as intended.

Included: The original Lifton case and its original hang tag from Gibson are included.
